About Course

We’re elated to have you onboard for our Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course, approved by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario. The entire course consists of 8 units, each containing subunits, meticulously aligned with the Ministry’s curriculum standards. We have adhered to all standard codes and instructional methods as stipulated by the Ministry.

Throughout the course, there are quizzes to test the your understanding and knowledge of the course. These quizzes will be unmarked and serve to help you better understand the course topics and materials. However, each quiz must be completed to proceed to the next section of the course.

Additionally, the course includes case studies, each presenting different scenarios aimed at deepening your understanding of traffic issues. Unlike quizzes, case studies may contain multiple questions that require your responses.  Case studies are also unmarked and are intended to enhance your grasp of more complex traffic situations.

At the end of every two units, there is a 30-question test that will be marked. The average score of these tests will constitute your online passing mark. To successfully pass the course, you must achieve a minimum average of 75% on all tests.

The length of the entire DrivingNeed BDE course is a total of 30 hours of online educational materials. Please note that you must not exceed 5 hours of online instructional time per day.

In addition to the online instruction, you are required to complete 10 hours of in-vehicle instruction sessions for the course to be considered complete.

All training must be completed within one year of your start date. To successfully complete the course, you must attend all sessions and achieve a minimum average of 70% on all tests and Home Link assignments.

It is recommended that you complete the online portion of the course before beginning the in-vehicle instruction.

To further help the student, the ONTARIO DRIVER HAND-BOOK can be used as a reference. A link to access the handbook is provided during the course.

Students are required to start at the beginning of the course and complete it sequentially, following the approved BDE Curriculum Standard.
